Free and Reduced Meals

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.

Income Eligibility Guidelines (2023-2024)

Eligibility examples:

Your child is eligible for FREE SCHOOL MEALS if:

  • Your annual income is $39,000 or less with a household of four
  • Your household receives SNAP or TANF benefits
  • Your child is in foster care, is a child of migrant workers, or is experiencing homelessness.
  • Your child participates in the Head Start Program

Your child is eligible for REDUCED PRICE MEALS IF:

  • Your annual income is $55,550 or less with a household of four
