Families facing homelessness lack regular, fixed and adequate housing.
Regular: A residence that is used on a regular, nightly basis. It is consistent.
Fixed: A residence that is stationary, permanent, and not subject to change.
Adequate: A residence that is sufficient for meeting both the physical and psychological needs typically met in a home environment. The residence has adequate privacy, space, security, lighting, ventilation, heat, and hot water.
The McKinney-Vento Act provides rights and services to children and youth experiencing homelessness, which include:

those who are sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason;

staying in motels, trailer parks, or campgrounds due to the lack of an adequate alternative;

staying in shelters or transitional housing; or sleeping in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, or similar settings.
The Winnisquam Regional School District works to remove barriers for homeless students to enroll in school and access educational opportunities.
School services include:

Immediate enrollment in school

Free school breakfast and lunch

Transportation to school of origin

Emergency clothing

Assistance with school activities, field trip costs, etc.
