Homeless - Mission Statement
The Winnisquam Regional School District works to remove barriers for homeless students to enroll in school and access educational opportunities under theMcKinney-Vento federal law.
Homeless students are those who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, which includes the following:
- Living with friends or relatives due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason;
- Living in a hotel or motel due to lack of alternative accommodations;
- Living in an emergency or transitional shelter;
- Living in a car, park, on the street, or similar settings.
Student services include:
- Immediate enrollment in school
- Free school breakfast and lunch
- School supplies and toiletries
- Transportation to school of origin
- Emergency clothing
- Assistance with school activities, field trips, etc.
